What is a fireplace insert?
A fireplace insert is a built-in fireplace / built-in wood-burning stove, which is typically built into an existing hole. The fireplace insert is sometimes also called a cassette. If you have a hole – e.g. an old open fireplace that is larger than the fireplace insert and that needs to be filled, you have the option of purchasing frames to cover the entire hole.
